Levocarnitine, or simply known as L-Carnitine is a natural amino acid structure, which the body produces. If the body doesn't produce the right amount of levocarnitine, then one can take it in their diet or take it in the form of an oral pill. Levocarnitine plays an extremely important role in helping the body produce energy, this is because, it converts the fat that we intake and convert it into energy for our body. Not only that, but levocarnitine is needed for your kidneys to not malfunction and function properly. It is also highly helpful for those, who are not able to sleep through nights properly. Levocarnitine is usually present in protein-rich foods like beef, pork, fish, chicken and even milk and milk products such as ice cream and cheddar cheese have levocarnitine in them. However, if you want to take levocarnitine through a supplement, one thing there is to remember is that one should not take in more than 2 grams of levocarnitine per day if you are taking on a daily basis for a long period of time. In addition, when taking this supplement, make sure to take either before a meal or before exercise. Children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women are strictly advised to not take levocarnitine.
