On 26th May 2021 a total Lunar Eclipse will occur and people living in the west US, Australia in East Asia will be able to get a good view of the Blood Moon. The lunar eclipse will start at around 3:15 pm (IST), 08:47:39 (UTC). At this time the moon will enter the penumbra which is the Earth’s outer shadow. After this, the moon will start travelling deeper into the shadow for a few hours and begin to redder. At around 4:39 pm (IST) the moon will fall completely into Earth’s inner shadow and will turn dark colour. The eclipse will last for a very shy period which is about 15 minutes. It will end at around 4:58pm (IST), 13:49:44 (UTC).

This supermoon will make our natural satellite appear about 7% larger and also brighter than the usual one. The previous blood moon was seen on 21 January 2019 and the next one will appear on 1st May 2022.

The lunar eclipse will also be seen in the north-eastern part of India, West Bengal, Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar islands but for periods formed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences. It has also been informed that a total lunar eclipse will be seen only this year. The redness of the moon will vary from place to place as it depends on the rate of pollution, cloud cover in the atmosphere of the region, a total lunar eclipse occurs when the moon is there, and the Full Moon stage which in turn causes Blood Moons.
