There are many artificial intelligence companies in India or companies that leverage AI, data mining and machine learning in their products.
So, picking one and the "best" is difficult.
That being said though, I personally don’t see many companies using AI or other advanced tech for direct social problem-solving.
Fasal is one of such companies that I heard of recently, which caught my attention. It's an AgriTech startup. It uses the AI-based microclimate forecasting algorithm that, in the mix with real-time field information and weather forecasts, helps provide farmers actionable information. Here's how the solution works:

The idea sounds excellent. With mass adoption on farmers' end, Fasal can really make a big difference in the agriculture scene.
Intello Labs is another great Startup that uses AI-based system to inspect crops and grade agricultural products based on images. This can significantly help the farmers get the right price for their products.

There are a few other startups in India that use Artificial Intelligence to add value to the agriculture sector of the country.
Aside from these, again, although there are many artificial intelligence companies in India, I don’t see them making any big difference, aside from being too profit-centric.

Rubique is one name that often gets featured in different articles. A Fintech, it uses AI to make applying for and getting loans easier. I am not sure how it has really helped those who need a loan and doesn’t belong to the posh class.
Then there is Haptik (a personal assistant), My Ally (recruiting assistant), and CruxIQ (helps analyze legal documents).
I personally believe AI and Machine learning can make the biggest difference maker on social fronts. Like, they can help us tackle poverty, unemployment, farming problems, poor education, and expensive medical treatments. Sadly, I don’t see many startups in India working in this direction.
So, to sum up the answer to your question, there are many artificial intelligence companies in India. Picking the "best" one is not possible.
