Franklin Edward Kameny, an American Gay Rights Activist was born on 21 May, 1925 in New York City, US. From the point of view of people who follow American Gay Rights, he has a great impact on people. Frank was a politician, scientist, and activist. In 195, he was banished from his post of a scientist ( an astronomer) because of his appearance as homosexual. This banishment led to the rise of new movement in the US Army regarding the homosexual rights in 1960s. The movement was thus an unsuccessful one, but it was the first ever movement taken in hands by people in US courts. This was the first known civil rights which was claimed to be based on homosexuality. 
Frank with his co-workers launched some public protests regarding the issue of homosexuality. These protests were led by Frank and Jack Nicholas, they were followed by many gay and lesbian in front of The White House on 1965. Frank and his associates got many supporting people from different parts of the United States of America. His crew was known as Annual Reminder for Gay Rights. Kameny was such a great activist, he wrote a letter to the President regarding the unfair rules of the government with respect to gay and lesbian community. He also mentioned in his letter about the amendments which have to be made about the rules related to homosexuals.

Finally in 1993, all his and Jack Nicholas's power came into action and the bill was passed. Kameny also wanted to remove the categorization of homosexuality to be known as a mental disorder from minds of people of America. He worked for the same and then approached to American Psychiatric Association and removed the classification of homosexuality as a disorder. 
Kameny in 1964 found out about the discrimination on black homosexual people. The government was not helping them and was discriminating against them. He said this could increase the discrimination against homosexuality in the country. 
In 1971, Kameny was the first active Gay candidate who was elected by United States Congress. His defeat by Walter, made him start a new organization which supported many gay and lesbians regarding their equal rights cases.
Kameny helped many people to attain their rights.
