Why Amazon Prime’s Mirzapur failed to leave its mark?

Even I am wondering this! How and why, even Pankaj Tripathi could not make the series what it was expected to be. Mirzapur was supposed to be to Amazon Prime what Sacred Games is to Netflix and what Gangs of Wasseypur is to Bollywood. But according to the final result, it is only the violence that is really comparable to the two Anurag Kashyap masterpieces. It just lacks everything else.

One major lack in the series is that of the moral center due to which it seems dangling in the air just like that. Anurag Kashyap has indeed become an inspiration for young and amateur writers like Karan Anshuman and Gurmeet Singh (the directors of the series). It is very unfortunate that skills are not as easy to take as inspiration and Mirzapur is the perfect example of it.

While Anurag Kashyap targeted an international audience with Scared Games and was successful, the two new directors of Mirzapur failed to even please the local audience. They could only manage to do justice with the Kashyap-level gory violence and bloodshed but failed when it came to a good plot line and appealing dialogues (memers didn’t even get enough meme material from the series :P).

Talking about the lead actor, Pankaj Tripathi, he is as good as ever, and as expected, far better than the rest of the cast put together. But that only creates an imbalance, making the unskilled ones even more visible in front of his exceptional skills.

If the series got to see another season, there would be a lot to improve and better up.
