Today, that is on 4th of August, the issue of NRC is going to be discussed by congress. The fact that NRC is getting so much attention when there’s almost no time left in Lok Sabha elections, can’t be ignored. The appraisal of National Register of Citizens is an issue on which the opposition party is ever ready to have a tussle with BJP.

What exactly is the NRC issue?

According to the Citizen Act of 1955, the government should have the information of all the families residing in India. The law was amended in 2004 and according to section 14A of the Citizen Act, it is compulsory for all the families to get themselves registered in NRC.

Currently, it is in talks, quite a lot.

According to a news report, a Congress minister says, “NRC is going to be the main issue of Congress meeting, as this is the most important issue in the country at this time, in the manner in which the Central Government has started this process in Assam, and it has affected a large number of people too.”

Now it is just the matter of time that how successful this congress meeting would be and how correct it is.
