Why is the offspring formed by asexual reproduction referred to as clone?

Asexual reproduction where only single parent is involved in it, there is no fusion of male and female gametes, and the offspring obtained is genetically identical to its parent. That means the DNA is similar to its parent. The offspring obtained is the same and exact copy of there parents that is why they are referred to as clone.
