Naloxone fails in tranq dope overdoses because the mixture contains xylazine, known as the zombie drug, which is not an opioid. Naloxone only reverses opioids like fentanyl, but xylazine affects the body differently, causing deep sedation, slow breathing, and low blood pressure. Even after naloxone is given, the zombie drug continues to act, leaving the person at risk. That is why emergency medical care and breathing support remain essential in such overdose cases.
