The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the center under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also facing pressure from some members of Parliament, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to start construction of the Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

“Ayodhya is the symbol of our pride and honour. Ayodhya is known to the world because of Lord Ram

"In the recent news Chief Minister chief also announced a slew of development projects for the city during his visit to Ayodhya on Diwali eve.

A hospital named after King Dashratha and a new airport named after Lord Ram will be built in the city, Adityanath announced at a public meeting in the twin cities of Ayodhya-Faizabad.

# BJP is getting ready for the upcoming Loksabha Election in 2019.Knowing the ground reality, that no legislation on the temple would be possible as the BJP still does not have a majority in the Rajya Sabha, Shah and the UP RSS bigwigs sought to thrash out ways and means to keep the issue alive and burning until the next Lok Sabha election. And that is precisely what the entire saffron brigade seems to be already doing.

# It appears that the idea behind the move is to reap a harvest in the crucial poll-bound states too. Of the five states that are going to polls over the next two months, the temple card could impact the minds of voters, particularly in Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. However, there was no way that the apex court’s decision could come that soon.

On the larger political level, one can say that as the Modi government and the BJP come under increasing attack from the Opposition, especially the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi, it's a deliberate shift towards the Ram temple issue to divert the attention.

Politics over Lord Ram is back in focus with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announcing that Faizabad district will be renamed as Ayodhya. The chief minister also announced a slew of development projects for the city during his visit to Ayodhya on Diwali eve.

A hospital named after King Dashratha and a new airport named after Lord Ram will be built in the city, Adityanath announced at a public meeting in the twin cities of Ayodhya-Faizabad.

“Ayodhya is the symbol of our pride and honour. Ayodhya is known to the world because of Lord Ram. From today onwards, Faizabad will be called Ayodhya (with the entire area of the twin cities now having one name). A medical college will be established in Ayodhya. We will also construct an airport,” he said.

The state government had recently renamed Allahabad as Prayagraj. It also plans to construct a 151-metre statue of Lord Ram on the banks of the Sarayu river.
