Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi came into power in the year 2014, BJP led NDA has
made its presence in more number of states. Even the north-eastern states have been through
the popular saffron surge under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is under
the Act East policy of Narendra Modi and his BJP led NDA government. Since then BJP led
NDA has been a part of the governance system in all the states of north-east except the state
of Mizoram. Congress, under the chief ministership of Lal Thanhawala, has been in power for
almost 10 years.
However, the party has been facing a stiff and increasing challenge from the
alliance of BJP and Mizo National Font. Congress has also tried to fill the seats with younger
candidates in order to push away their anti-incumbency. However, the prevalent question today
that is of extreme importance today is whether this strategy of Congress shall suffice for its
a plightful and lone condition in the region of North East. As per various service, Congress is likely
to hold 14 to 18 seats in Mizoram while it’s counterpart is likely to win with 16 to 20 seats.
