Until today, the majority of people didn’t even know there's such a thing as 'Seoul Peace Prize'.

On what exact criterion he got that award, who were the runner-ups, what kind of work has won him that -- no one really knows!

BUT NONETHELESS. An award or recognition to an Indian leader on the global forum should be welcomed irrespective of your political aligning.

The Seoul Peace Prize was established in 1990 to commemorate the success of the 24th Olympic Games held in the capital of South Korea. It symbolizes the Koreans' desire for peace in the world. Over the course, many renowned names (individuals and organizations) have received this award, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Oxfam.

The award committee bestowed PM with the recognition for international cooperation and fostering global economic growth. They credited his economic policies for reducing social and economic disparity between the rich and the poor, according to TOI.

Ironically, income inequality in India has worsened over the past years. According to the latest report by Oxfam, the 1% population in India now holds 73% of the nation's total wealth. And in 2017, 67 crore Indians in the bottom half saw an increase in their wealth by only 1%.

In addition, under this same regime, India witnessed the biggest economic blunder that was Demonetization, which killed hundred, created nation-wide chaos and returned with no rewards whatsoever.

And not to forget the ongoing problems of unemployment and farmers in the country.

So, it’s quite ironic that PM Modi received the Seoul Peace Prize for his economic policies.

But, again, nonetheless.

As long as the fanatics don’t use this recognition to unjustifiably validate PM Modi's success, it's quite a proud moment for every Indian.
