Do you think that coaching institutes deceive us when it comes to preparing for competitive exams?

Telling from the experience of a student, coaching centers hardly make any difference when it comes to actually study. I was taking coaching at a reputed institute when I was in 11th standard to crack PMT and AIIMS exam and had a very bad experience.

Such coaching institutes which claim to get us through these tough entrance examinations have so tight a schedule that you get the feeling of studying in two schools simultaneously. What happens then is that you fail to cope up with the studies of both, your institute and your institution. Coaching institutes charge a very high fee and completely neglect the fact that students go to school, have their homework and exams. Yes, they even neglect students’ exams.

These coaching institutes have their own test cycles, which they follow tightly, and don’t care if you lag behind due to your inability to cope up, your illness, or any other unavoidable reason.

This is one aspect of the way things work in coaching institutes, in which you will always feel that it is only your mistake, and your institute is right on not focusing on every student individually.

In big coaching centers, however, there is another aspect which is more inclined towards this game of deceiving. It is the promises that coaching institutes make and they are unable to fulfill, thus harming no one but the students. Sometimes they promise big professors and educators as a faculty and fail to call them for lectures, and sometimes they just miss the syllabus, without any regret.

Read here the story of the doctor who sued a famed institute because he could not crack AIIMS entrance exam. He surprisingly won the case.

The incident makes evident the fact that there is something very wrong about the functioning of such coaching institutes and the promises they make. The unprecedented authority that they have got in present times is because of the blind trust the students and their parents rest in them. They think that schooling only is not enough to stay ahead in the rat race our education system hosts.

To be at the top, they feel the need of having an edge over everyone else, and that’s where they get trapped in the false promises of such coaching institutes.
