The British East India Company and the Maratha Empire engaged in a number of wars during the British-Maratha conflict. The Anglo-Maratha Wars were a series of three territorial conflicts in India between the Maratha Empire and the British East India Company.
British officials forged ties with other Indian states including the Sikh Confederacy and the Nizam of Hyderabad. The Third Anglo-Maratha War (1817–1819), which saw the British triumph and put an end to Maratha dominance, was the culmination of their military campaigns against the Marathas.
