Be it monsoon, winters, or just evening time snack with tea, fritters or pakode are our first choice. We usually prepare fritters by deep frying in a lot of oil which results in high calorie, oily food getting consumed. This obviously, affects our health. Let’s see how we can make fritters in a healthier way, avoiding excessive oil.

One alternative of deep fried fritters is shallow frying on a tawa (heating plate), on which you make tortillas. If you have oven at your home, it’s better to prepare fritters in it.

• Red Chili Powder: 2 tablespoons
• Garam Masala: ½ teaspoon
• Salt: According to taste
• Baking Soda: 2 pinches
• Coriander leaves (finely chopped): ½ bowl
• Oil: enough to shallow fry
Method:
• Take a big bowl and pour gram flour in it.
• Cut the potatoes in the shape of thin chips.
• Add cut potatoes in gram flour and mix red chili powder, garam masala, salt, baking soda, and coriander leaves in it.
• Add water and make a thick batter.
• Spread two spoon oil on tawa and heat it.
• When hot, put the potato chips in batter on tawa. When fried from one side, flip it and fry the other side. Fry till 5-6 minutes.
• When fried properly, keep them on a kitchen paper.
• Keep repeating it till the whole batter is finished.
Enjoy hot fritters with tea or ketchup.
