The file is at the apex on the screen, but the X-ray shows it's short. Why?

This can occur due to anatomical variations, wide apical foramina, or radiographic distortion. Apex locators detect the apical constriction electrically, which may not align perfectly with radiographic apex. Always correlate electronic readings with clinical judgment and radiographs.
