What all can we predict from Sacred Games Season 2 Trailer?

Thinker | Posted on

Well, I'm not sure if Sacred Games Season 2 trailer has been released officially. There is certainly a teaser released on social media by the official account of Netflix India, but I have doubts about the trailer.

Talking of predictions, let me first go by the teaser which just introduces the main cast of Sacred Games 2. Radhika Apte and Katekar, as expected, are not in the teaser (and may not be in the series as well) but what is more intriguing to fans is the entry of two new faces -Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey. All of us are waiting to see what role will they have to play in Sacred Games Season 2. Maybe two cops beside Saif Ali Khan, aka Sartaj Singh?

One thing is certain, there is going to be a more elaborate role for Pankaj Tripathi, playing the third father of Ganesh Gaitonde in the series, and many theories have even predicted an apocalyptic return of Katekar. The rest will be other characters' race against time to save everything in 25 days, or whatever is left of them.

The predictions would have been easier to make had I read the novel by Vikram Chandra on which the series is based. The first Indian Netflix Original series, Sacred Games's second season is being awaited as much as Avengers fans were awaiting Endgame, and rightly so.

Maybe it's on the account of this wait and the popularity of the show that Netflix released a trailer which seems to me a mix of Sacred Games Season 2 and another popular Netflix series, Narcos: Mexico. We see Nawazuddin Siddique aka Ganesh Gaitonde in the trailer along with Bunty, with his classic Chatri dialogue.

What is interesting in this trailer is that both Gaitonde and Bunty are talking of Felix, the godfather, and watching a tape. To a Netflix addict, it won't be difficult to recognise the names and the scenes, and join the dots.

So should we expect an amalgamation of the two series in the Season 2 of Sacred Games? Well, who knows. One thing is clear though, if something like this happens, it will be an addition in the original story of the novel.

This time Neeraj Ghaywan will take the director's seat along with Anurag Kashyap instead of Vikramaditya Motwane. As in Season 1, one of the co writers remains Varun Grover. All trustworthy people, be it direction, acting, or writing. I am all set for Sacred Games Season 2, no matter how right or wrong all my predictions turn out to be.
