Prepositions, like in and out, are words that help define the relationship between nouns in a sentence. Learn what they do and how they're used in your sentences.
Prepositions are words placed before nouns to help identify positioning and relationships of things or actions in the sentence. They can be split into three separate groups: adverbs, pronouns, and conjunctions. Adverbs describe where something is happening or how it's being done (e.g., "I opened the door") while pronouns are words that replace a specific word that translates to "to" or "from" (e.g., I saw him from across the street).
