Brain tumors are not a single disease, but rather a collection of malignant and benign growths that grow in the brain or spinal cord.
A brain tumor is a lump of abnormal cells that form in the tissue of the brain. A person may have more than one tumor at once, or more than one type of tumor. Benign tumors slow down nearby nerve cells, but cause no symptoms or problems other than occasional headaches caused by damage to nearby nerves from bleeding inside the tumour. The chances for recovery are good if this type remains asymptomatic and doesn't grow quickly over time.
A Spinal Cord Tumors and growths of any kind in the spine can cause discomfort, neurological difficulties, and even paralysis. A spinal tumour can be life-threatening & leave you unable for the rest of your life. Surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or other drugs may be used to treat a spinal tumour.
