An oxyacetylene cutting torch is the most popular device used for metal cutting. This torch burns acetylene and oxygen, both of which are stored in tanks on a cart. Prior to cutting you must measure out the materials needed: metal, gas, and flux. You need some type of protective eye wear because when the metal heats up from being cut it can spark or shoot out droplets that could burn your skin. After these items have been measured out you can attach them to your torch by screwing each end onto a coupling nut on their respective valves, one for acetylene coming from the tank, one for oxygen coming from the tank, and then connecting them to each other with an oxygen hose.
