Although the exact date, either of the movie or of the trailer, has not been declared yet, it is expected to release just ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and for the obvious reasons.

The intent of the movie, which is titled PM Narendra Modi, tells us that it is going to be a propaganda film, which will do nothing but glorify the Prime Minister. Nothing much, though, can anyway be expected from a Bollywoodian biopic. The movie will be as sanitized a version of
Narendra Modi’s life as was Sanju of actor Sanjay Dutt’s life.

We all are very well aware of the fading glory with which PM Modi was hailed after winning 2014 elections. His glorious images of “chappan inch ka seena” and “the savior of the country fighting the corruption”, are diluting. It was quite evident from the criticism he earned on the Patel statue and the results of the recent Assembly elections.

In the backdrop of all this, there was released, just a few days ago, the much controversial trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister, in which the reality of Congress at the time of the tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh is revealed.

So BJP could not get a better occasion for such a propaganda movie than this when a movie deifying PM Modi can add fuel to the fire, which is obviously bound to set after the release of The Accidental Prime Minister.

Just like the trailer of the movie starring Anupam Kher, the arrival of the poster of PM Narendra Modi was also declared on Twitter by a person belonging to BJP. It was the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis this time who did the needful on behalf of the party.

Right from the launch of the very first poster, BJP is set on its task, and is already hailing the Prime Minister as “a world leader”, “a RajYogi in a true sense”, and “one of the tallest leaders in the world”.

The movie’s poster shows actor Vivek Oberoi –whose father and movie’s co-producer, Suresh Oberoi is a member of BJP –in “Bhagva” colored Kurta-Pyajama, and grey hair and beard. In the backdrop is the national flag and sunrise. At the top of the poster is written, “Deshbhakti hi meri Shakti hai”.

Even the poster is colored with the colors of patriotism!

So, no matter what the release date of the movie is, one thing is sure –a political drama staged by the ruling party to save whatever little of its glory is left in the hearts of the masses. With the two powerful political movies releasing before the elections, it’s certain that this year’s elections are going to be more interesting and entertaining than any movie releasing in 2019.
