If you are a college student and find yourself in the usual dilemma of spending your vacations sleeping peacefully at home and investing these months in gaining some pre-employment work experience through internships, choose the latter option blindly.

Internships have innumerable and unimaginable perks, which you can realize fully on when you experience it. Students who have never done any internship or with zero work experience find it very difficult to adapt to the new surroundings quickly. Neither are they very desirable to the employers who need the most productive and experienced of the work force. So enlisted below are some perks of doing internships:

• It makes you a preferable employ whom more employers want to hire instead of those with zero work experience.
• You get to explore yourself in ways you’d have never thought before. It’s a completely new environment and lets you grow and develop without any restrictions.
• It gives an edge to your resume and prevents it from going into trash.
• It teaches you time management and makes the transition from educational institution to work place easier for you.
• It is a win-win situation where you are learning as well as gaining work experience and in some cases, also getting paid.

Importance of internships in a student’s life can be positive add on only if it is balanced and managed accordingly with the main studies. Because, after all, a student’s qualification and his marks matter as much as his experience.

You can have enough time to learn about the working environment and how to deal with it, but what you would lack is the theoretical knowledge of an expert if you do internships at the expense of your regular studies.

We all know that doing one thing at a time perfectly is always better than doing many things in an average way. And your experience will matter only when your skills and knowledge are exceptional.

That’s where you’d be making a difference. When all other candidates would be coming with a little bit of knowledge and half the experience, you’d be equipped with one domain perfectly.
Having said all this, in the end, the choice is always yours.
