MeToo is not the only feminist movement that is breaking the internet these days. Irish women now have come up with the hashtag #ThisIsNotConsent and have taken to social media where they are sharing the pictures of their underwear.
This hashtag and the movement is related to a rape trial in Ireland in which a 27 year old man was accused of raping a 17 year old girl. It would have been a moment of shock when the defense lawyer produced the victim’s thong underwear as an evidence of her consent, had the jury been a bit sane.

The jury of eight men was convinced that the girl’s wearing thongs is enough to make it clear that she was open to a physical relationship with the man. He was proved “not guilty” and released.
The incident and the verdict outraged the women of Ireland to a considerable degree and they used social media to tell the world that wearing of a certain type of underwear does not account for consent of a woman.
I personally, take it as a defeat of feminism when it is struggling so hard to tell the world that dresses don’t decide character, there’s this example where a woman’s undergarment choice decided her consent.
RIP feminism.
