There are shocking 4th quarter results are in the corner and one of them is about iPhone sales. iPhone sales are set to drop in India in the fourth quarter. Even the festive season of Diwali or Amazon and Flipkart sales did not pull the Apple magic. Last year the iPhone sales in 4th quarter was a million unit and this year it is expected in a range from 700000 to 800000 units. In the third quarter also it was 900000 last year compared to 450000 this year.
The reason for this dip in iPhone sales is mainly due to the increase in cost. Cost of the iPhone is very high but the specifications and features are remaining the same. So consumers are not attracted to iPhones anymore.
The new customer base is not coming for iPhones. New smart phone users are preferring Android phones over iPhones.
Even the unit of iPhone sold this year in India is of older model only. The new model will cost more than older ones. So less takers for costlier models.
Due to weak rupee Indians have to pay more for iPhones. This is also one of the reason for dip in iPhone sales.
Android user base and support is more and so more and more people are into Android than Apple.
But as Indians spending spree is increasing and having iPhone is a prestige issue, if Apple try some new tsales technique definitely it will catch the Indian market again.
