Permanent and fixed-term employees must get EPF (retirement savings) and ESI (health insurance) if they meet wage and coverage limits.
Fixed-term workers get the same EPF and ESI benefits as permanent staff during their contract.
Contract workers are covered through their contractor.
Gig and platform workers are not automatically under EPF/ESI but may get coverage through separate social security schemes under the Social Security Code.
