The Election Commission of India has warned all the political parties against not asking for votes on the basis of caste or religion. It has warned all the ministers, officials, and candidates not to indulge in any such campaign activity.
EC took this step after UP CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy chairman of NITI Aayog, Rajeev Kumar released statements on Rahul Gandhi.

EC has made it clear that no political party can use any kind of hate speech in their election rallies. In addition, no one is allowed to comment on any candidates’ personal life, until and unless it has anything to do with politics. No political leader orcandidate can drag any candidate’s family in the political and electoral dialogue, unnecessarily.
Also, no one can accuse their competitor without any evidence. No political meeting will take place in any place of worship. And above all, symbols associated with the army can’t be used for winning the votes.
Although all these rules have already been mentioned in the Code of Conduct for the General Election in the country, they had to be reemphasized as no political party seems to be following it.
