Yes. Modi government fears intellect and cleverness… just as much as any other political party.
The present government does home some quite bright minds. For instance, kept aside his political agendas, Arun Jaitley is certainly a very intelligent individual despite him succumbing to PM Narendra Modi in his economic decisions. Manohar Parrikar was an intelligent minister. Prakash Javedkar, Nitin Gadkari and Venkaiah Naidu (now Vice President), they are all good.

However, the problem for all these Modi ministers is that this government has lied so much, and has let political agendas influence their key decisions to such an extent, that they can’t stand even the most common questions based on facts and figures… like why the unemployment rate is 45-year high in the country right now!
Now, of course, one must also not overlook the absurdity that fills BJP government and the party… from Smriti Irani and V K Singh to Yogi Adityanath and Giriraj Singh. And oh, did I forget Sambit Patra?!
It's not like Modi government didn’t do anything nice. A lot did go right. Some of the things you hear/see in crores-worth ad propagandas are true. However, an awful lot go wrong. The promises made by this government became see-through. A large part of the voters now recognizes the party's lies and irregularities.

Now, as it stands, the government doesn’t have any answers to key questions. It's not necessarily that they are scared of intellect and cleverness. They simply lack the important answers…
· What they did to solve farmers' plight?
· Why so many ministers are spewing communal hatred?
· Why millions of youths are unemployed?
· Why the country's education system hasn’t improved in the past 5 years?
· Where did the BJP get funding to build the biggest party office in the world, along with hundreds of offices in so many districts?
· WHY and how did BJP spend Rs 4,300 crore on publicity in the past 4 years?

The most interesting thing here is not only the government and party members not have answers to these questions, but they are also desperately trying to eliminate these questions with topics on Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim, Nationalism, Pappu, and what-not.
That's why BJP members only like media houses who ask questions like 'sir, baago mein bahaar hai?'
This is just as same for Congress. Now, they are in opposition with a big mouth. Back when in power, they didn’t have answers too. And voters did voice their discontentment against them in General Election 2014.

So, NO, Modi government doesn’t fear intellect and cleverness (both of which is absent on the other side by the way). They are just afraid of questions. Why do you think PM Narendra Modi chose you-know-who for his first interview of the year? And if he's going to give more interviews, guess who will he choose next?!
