Yes. Modi government fears intellect and cleverness… just as much as any other political party.
The present government does home some quite bright minds. For instance, kept aside his political agendas, Arun Jaitley is certainly a very intelligent individual despite him succumbing to PM Narendra Modi in his economic decisions. Manohar Parrikar was an intelligent minister. Prakash Javedkar, Nitin Gadkari and Venkaiah Naidu (now Vice President), they are all good.

However, the problem for all these Modi ministers is that this government has lied so much, and has let political agendas influence their key decisions to such an extent, that they can’t stand even the most common questions based on facts and figures… like why the unemployment rate is 45-year high in the country right now!

Now, of course, one must also not overlook the absurdity that fills BJP government and the party… from Smriti Irani and V K Singh to Yogi Adityanath and Giriraj Singh. And oh, did I forget Sambit Patra?!

It's not like Modi government didn’t do anything nice. A lot did go right. Some of the things you hear/see in crores-worth ad propagandas are true. However, an awful lot go wrong. The promises made by this government became see-through. A large part of the voters now recognizes the party's lies and irregularities.

Now, as it stands, the government doesn’t have any answers to key questions. It's not necessarily that they are scared of intellect and cleverness. They simply lack the important answers…

· What they did to solve farmers' plight?

· Why so many ministers are spewing communal hatred?

· Why millions of youths are unemployed?

· Why the country's education system hasn’t improved in the past 5 years?

· Where did the BJP get funding to build the biggest party office in the world, along with hundreds of offices in so many districts?

· WHY and how did BJP spend Rs 4,300 crore on publicity in the past 4 years?

The most interesting thing here is not only the government and party members not have answers to these questions, but they are also desperately trying to eliminate these questions with topics on Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim, Nationalism, Pappu, and what-not.

That's why BJP members only like media houses who ask questions like 'sir, baago mein bahaar hai?'

This is just as same for Congress. Now, they are in opposition with a big mouth. Back when in power, they didn’t have answers too. And voters did voice their discontentment against them in General Election 2014.

So, NO, Modi government doesn’t fear intellect and cleverness (both of which is absent on the other side by the way). They are just afraid of questions. Why do you think PM Narendra Modi chose you-know-who for his first interview of the year? And if he's going to give more interviews, guess who will he choose next?!

Every government does the same.

In Indian political system, we have to choose ""ANDHON ME KANA RAJA".

Fear of intellectuals - Who are these intellectual people? They are the part of #AWARDWAPASI gang who came on TV channels and announced to return the awards they received from government of India irrespective of the party (some of them were awarded in congress regime and some were in BJP's regime), but none of them returned the money they received alongwith the awards. So, how the awards were returned completely? Or all this was for publicity or for helping any political agenda of opposition?

World bank and other financial organisations has praised many a times the reforms done by this government. In my opinion, these are actual intellectuals who are observing the market trends and based on that giving their views/opinions/ratings.

Modi government definitely fears intellect and those who try to over smart the govt. Not only this, the current govt is afraid of those who dares to ask questions from the govt and govt fear to reply any ques. So what did our govt do? They just shut the mouth of those who ask questions. Guess who? The answer is media. Not even a single news channel is questioning the govt except some youtube channels and Ravish kumar. These all paid media houses have forgotten their role in the country and are just serving as an intermediary between the common man and the govt and are disseminating the information which govt filters. They has been no questioning from the media for the past 5 years. And those who dare to question (Somebody like Goswami) often end up joining the hands with the govt.

Reconsidering your question, there are certain facts I would draw your attention to which clearly states that this govt fears intellect.
1. As already I mentioned the govt has full control over the media. So nobody talks about facts, openly. These TV channels digress the topic so well onto nationalism, Ram Madir, And what not when you talk of the facts directly. They will give you the tag of anti nationalist if your question is anyhow attacking their ideology. And what to say about the show stopper of every debate nearly at every news channel, Mr Patra. He talks so intellectually, logically that even Lord Bhrama fears of his intellectual debates. He is the official person appointed by the Govt of India to give the tag of Nationalist and Anti nationalist.

2. When the unemployment data was released by the NSSO, stating the unemployment rates are on a 45year high. The govt didnot believe it and pressurise the institution to revise the data. So pressuring the autonomous institution and depressing them, if they say anything against the govt is the second major thing that the govt did in 5years, spreading the communal gate is still the first. So be it RBI governor, CBI chief, NSSO Chief, or anyone else.....Who talks intellectual or goes against the govt, will be removed. This much the govt loves intellect.

3. There has not been a single press conference done the Prime Minister in the past 5 years, this much he fears being questioned. He does whatever suits to his party or the interest of his members and because there are no discussions over the facts the reality remain suppressed.

4. If anyone talks about the real facts, the same is being categoried as a Anti-Nationalist, not only a person but the whole institution, caste the person comes from. Take the example of Kanhaiya kumar, not only he was given a tag of anti nationalist but the whole JNU was given a anti-nationalist tag by the media houses.

I am not the supporter of any political party. The situation was the same when Congress was in power. Had they done good to the people they would not have lost the power. But the intensity of the current govt is all at a different level. Thanks to the media channels...The greatest contributor towards rising hate, intolerance , attacking the institutional autonomy and pulling the economy back.
