Does existing Android version have more features than the latest iOS 12?

Yes and no!

Certainly, the existing Android Oreo, and its successor Pie, have a lot of features that Apple so excitedly announced recently in its iOS 12 update. But then again, there are also few features that are new and unique, albeit small, that escaped people’s attention.

Let’s start by saying this— even when Apple is often considered as the most innovative tech company, it has always been following the imprints of other companies. For instance, the face ID, dual sim, waterproofing, and more—all these features were already there in Samsung smartphones. Remember the ad where Samsung actually trolled Apple for this?

Here’s the video:

Now coming to iOS 12 update, first what’s old for Android but new for Apple users:

· Battery management system,

· Group video chats,

· DND for night time,

· SMS OTP auto-fill,

· Grouping of notifications,

· Automatic software updates,

· Air quality reading on weather application,

· And a smarter Siri (Google Assistant is much intuitive and niftier).

There are few other minor features that Android users have long been using.

That being said, iOS 12 update does have its fair share of newness and ‘exclusivity’. One of the things I loved the most is the option to manage screen time. If you’ve been spending too much time on the device or in any particular app, this feature can be a complete saviour. You can get an insight of how, when and where you’re spending all your time. Also, you can set limits on how much time you want to spend on any app. Once crossed that threshold level, you will get notifications to inform you about that. This is neat and an effective way to manage your time.

Another feature to look forward to is the Measure app. It’s really a cool app that can help you measure the dimension of any object around you. Just point the camera to the object and it will show the measurements. Not that many people will use it, it’s still a very cool addition in iOS 12 update.

Also, Face ID has got a big boost in this Apple update. Now it supports 2 different face ID profiles, which is a great upgrade (until, of course, couples start setting relationship goals out of it!)

At large, Apple has focused more on the performance of the device in iOS 12 update. So, there aren’t many headliners in this update on papers. The update will increase iPhone and iPad’s speed and responsiveness, with twice as much quickness in app launch and sheet display.

Clearly, iOS 12 update seems all hype, following the footsteps of the existing Android versions. There have been many minor updates, be it in Screenshot, QR code scanner, Photos or iBooks (now Apple Books). Sadly, none of these are really the headline worthy. But then again, there are few new features that iPhone users can certainly look forward to. If nothing, they can at least be settled that their device is about to get a lot faster and better in performance. Isn’t that what the majority wants?
