Maghar, a place in Sant Kabir Nagar near Gorakhpur, is popular for being the death ground of Saint Kabir. Kabir, in order to de-mythifying the legends that one who dies in Kashi attains heaven, and the one who dies is Maghar attains hell, chose to die in Maghar.

The place has Saint Kabir’s mausoleum and a samadhi sthal in the vicinity of each other. The place, therefore, is symbolic from the secular point of view.

PM Modi, not missing the occasion of 620th year of Kabir's birth at Varanasi and the 500th year of his death at Maghar had planned to pay homage to the great poet on 28th of June. The hidden motives, however, should be remain hidden and one should not connect the rally that followed his the homage in Maghar to the coming Lok Sabha elections.
