Coconut chutney is an inevitable ingredient of a South Indian platter. But if you are bored of the usual coconut chutney, you can try to make it with a twist. Mint can add a new flavor to the old taste and make the South Indian cuisine new for you.

You will need the following ingredients to make mint and coconut chutney:

• Mint leaves: 1 cup
• Curry leaves: 15-20
• Ginger (grated): 1 small piece
• Coconut (grated): 1 small cup
• Green chili (chopped): 2-3
• Roasted gram dal: 1 tablespoon
• Water: According to the requirement
• Edible oil: According to the requirement
• Rye: 1 tablespoon
• Asafetida: 1 pinch

What you need to do to prepare the mint and coconut chutney:

• Heat edible oil in a pan on a low flame.

• Add mint leaves, curry leaves, and ginger in the oil and fry for 3-4 minutes.

• Grind this fried mixture in a grinder, adding salt and some water. Collect the mixture in a bowl and keep separately.

• Now heat some more oil in a pan.

• Fry rye, asafetida, and curry leaves in this oil and pour it over the chutney prepared before.

• You can serve it with many other dishes than just with dosa and idli.
