Tomato rice is one such dish which leaves all of us drooling just at the mention of it. The recipe of preparing it is also very easy.
Ingredients:
• Basmati rice: 1 cup
• Tomatoes: 4
• Onions (chopped): 2
• Green chili (chopped): 1
• Garlic-ginger paste: 1 tablespoon
• Sambhar powder: 1 tablespoon
• Turmeric powder: ½ tablespoon
• Mustard seeds: ½ tablespoon
• Asafetida: ½ teaspoon
• Salt: According to taste
Method:
• Soak the rice in water for at least 20 minutes and then boil them.
• Grind tomatoes.
• Heat 2 tablespoons of edible oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, asafetida, and green chili to it.
• Add onion and fry till it turns brown. Then add ginger-garlic paste.
• Cook at low flame.
• Add the tomato puree and sprinkle turmeric powder, sambhar powder, red chili powder, and salt.
• When the masala is properly cooked, add the boiled rice and mix properly.
• Serve hot.
