The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna is a plan started by the government in 2014. It's about making sure that more and more people in the country can use banking services. In India, many folks in rural areas don't have bank accounts. They either keep their money at home or with local money-savers who are not official.
This plan wants to help these people get things like bank accounts, money transfers, loans, pensions, and insurance at reasonable prices. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, announced it on August 15, 2014, and a lot of new bank accounts were made on the first day.
Here are some good things about the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna:
1. Easy to Get a Bank Account:Anyone can get a bank account with very few papers. People in rural areas who can't show proper papers also have ways to get an account.
2. No Need for a Lot of Money: You don't need to have a lot of money to open an account. But if you want extra things like a checkbook, some banks might ask for a little money.
3. ATM Card: You'll get an ATM card (it's called a RuPay Debit Card). You can use it to take out money from ATMs all over India.
4. Insurance: People in this plan can get life insurance worth Rs 30,000 if they follow the rules, like opening their account before January 26, 2015.
5. Extra Money When Needed: After six months of opening the account, you can take some extra money if you need it, up to Rs 5,000.
6. Loans: If you have this account for six months, you can also get a loan of up to Rs 5,000. It can help people who don't have much money when they need it.
7. Easy Mobile Banking: The plan lets you check your account and move money using a simple mobile phone, not a fancy one. It's made for people who don't have much money.
So, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna makes it easy for a lot of people to have a simple bank account and feel good about their money.
