At present, foldable devices seem like an imminent future of mobile technology. They are the talk of the town. And with how things are right now, it doesn’t seem like they are taking a backseat anytime soon.

Samsung Galaxy Fold started it all. (Royole FlexiPai, although "first" and ambitious, is a bad product!)

And ever since then, people cannot stop gushing about the flexible display or foldable phone technology.

Now, many top brands are following the same suite, making foldable phones, leaking new pictures and releasing concept videos… from Motorola and Xiaomi to LG, Oppo, and Huawei.

(Although, we're still to get foldable Smartphone in the consumer market.)

Here's a concept of Lenovo's version of Foldable technology:

The clamshell design is extremely unique comparing to other brands'.

Here's another concept of Oppo, released by company's Vice President sales and marketing Brian Shen…

It's just like Samsung Galaxy Fold: a screen wrap.

Here's what LG is up to with its own concepts of rollable and foldable phones:

But here's what I am VERY excited for the most: Motorola RAZR V4

This is a piece of beauty… A shout-out to its classic Motorazr, which started the trend of folding phones more than a decade back.

Talking about Apple, tech's top name, the company hasn’t been very vocal about the foldable phone technology. Yes, there have been a few leaks here and there that shows Apple's concept of the foldable phone, it's hard to confirm if they are even planning to get into the flexible display trend.

Here’s one of their very few Foldable iPhone concept:

So, in short, a lot is happening in the Smartphone world right now. Almost all the attention is on foldable phone technology.

So, to answer your question, that's the future of mobile technology. And that's the course we'll stay on for the next 10 years or so.

By that time, we will have Virtual Assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri become much smarter and intuitive. So, following, it's very likely that we won't even need screens. We could just communicate with these assistants through voice and get things done… read the news, write emails, play songs, and more.

Hope this answers your question.
