If you ask me, Hollywood seriously needs to bring back proper adventure films. I’m talking about those fun, larger-than-life treasure hunts and exploration stories that made you feel like you were part of the journey.

Movies like Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark or even The Mummy had this perfect mix of action, mystery, humor, and pure entertainment. They weren’t overly dark or complicated. You could just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Today, most big films are either superhero-heavy or too serious. The sense of discovery and excitement is missing. Adventure films had something special, they made you curious about history, hidden places, and ancient secrets without trying too hard.

I feel audiences still want that kind of cinema. Something that is thrilling but also light and rewatchable. Not everything needs to be intense or universe-building.

So yeah, if Hollywood really wants to win people back, bringing back classic adventure storytelling with fresh ideas could be a game changer.

In my opinion, if we look at the history of cinema, one genre that Hollywood has almost forgotten but really needs to bring back today is the Screwball Comedy. Many young people might not know this name, but in the 1930s and 40s, movies like It Happened One Night or The Philadelphia Story were huge hits. These were not just normal romantic comedies; they were fast, funny, and very smart.

As an Indian movie lover, I see that nowadays most Hollywood movies are only about big superheroes, CGI monsters, or very dark and serious dramas. There is no middle ground. The Screwball Comedy is special because it features "battle of the sexes" where the male and female lead characters are equally sharp and keep fighting with funny dialogues. The female characters in these old films were very strong, independent, and fast-talkers, which is something we talk about a lot in 2026, but Hollywood is not doing it correctly in a fun way.

Why does Hollywood desperately need this back? First, because of "Exhaustion." People are tired of seeing explosions every five minutes. We want to see humans talking and having chemistry. Second, these movies were famous for "escapism." During the Great Depression, people went to see these films to forget their money problems. Today, with so much stress in the world, we need that kind of light-hearted, high-energy entertainment again.

Another reason is the "Writing Quality." Screwball comedies rely on very fast, rhythmic dialogue. In today's movies, the jokes are often just silly memes or physical humor. But in this old genre, the humor came from the situation and the cleverness of the words. It requires very good acting and timing, not just a big budget.

If Hollywood starts making these again, they don't need 200 million dollars. They just need two great actors with amazing chemistry and a very solid script. It would be a breath of fresh air for the audience. As an Indian fan who grew up watching both Bollywood and Hollywood, I feel that the "magic of conversation" is missing from the big screen. Bringing back Screwball Comedy would fix that and give us something smart to laugh at. It is time to move away from the green screen and go back to the written word and human emotions.
