Vitiligo is a kind of skin disease which can affect people of any age and gender. In this long term problem, growing patches of skin lose their color.

The discoloration takes place due to the death of melanocytes, which are responsible for the production of Melanin. Melanin is the skin pigment which gives color to skin and protect it from UV rays. Usually, Vitiligo is a lifelong problem which is caused by a kind of virus. The condition is photosensitive, which means that the discolored parts are more sensitive to sunlight.

The percentage of color discolored in Vitiligo differs from person to person and it can affect any part of body like ears, eyes, hands, feet, and even hair. The discolored patches may spread in some conditions.

According to experts, there is no specific cure for this disease and once acquired, it remains with the person lifelong. Some of the very few treatments that doctors have are:

  • Using sunscreen
  • Phototherapy with UVB and UVA rays.
  • Skin camouflage
  • Depigmenting.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the white patches it leaves on otherwise normally pigmented skin. These blotches typically develop on areas like the hands, arms, feet, face and back of the neck.
White spots of skin can be a symptom of vitiligo, a condition that causes loss of skin color in patches. This can make those afflicted feel self-conscious and anxious about their appearance. If this is the case for you, know that there are treatments available to help your skin regain its color — including pigment-producing injections and creams.

Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which the skin-pigmentation cells are destroyed or lost. This results in white patches on the regions of the skin from where the cells have been lost.

According to researchers, Vitiligo is a hereditary disease which can occur over generations. This means that vitiligo has an autoimmune cause.

To cure it perfectly, you are suggested to see a specialist.

A homeopathic treatment can also work. My sister was suffering from Vitiligo since a very long time and was getting treated with homeopathic medicines. It took her some years, but she was finally cured of this disease, which was very important for her as she was having difficulties in getting married due to this disease.

The researchers call this a hereditary disease, but I don't think it was autoimmune in her case. Vitiligo can also be triggered with injury, illness, sunburn, emotional stress, or pregnancy.

Vitiligo does not affect physical health, but concerns about appearance and ethnic identity can lead to serious psychological, social, and emotional difficulties, significantly impacting quality of life.
