Karnataka budget cannot be said good or satisfactory because there are mixed reactions to the budget, especially from trade and industry.
The good points of the budget are:
• Waiver of farm loans
• Monthly pension given to sportspersons to be increased
• Journalists and their families to receive group insurance facility
• Kshema Nidhi to be established to look after the welfare of the door-to-door distributors of newspapers
• More hectares of land to be added to the Protected Area Network for the conservation of flora and fauna
• Marriage incentives to SC boys and girls
• Loans to women and fishermen to the tune of Rs. 50,000 at 0% interest
On the downside, increase of taxes on petroleum products will affect the middle class people and the hike in electricity tax will affect SMEs.
