What would have happened had some town of India got a Billboard of Modi saying “Our leader an Idiot”?

Can we imagine the recent scenario of New Jersey in some town of India? It’s highly debatable. Of course, the erection of the billboard calling Donald Trump “our leader, an idiot” has caused anger in the residents, but at least authorities know that the act done by an activist falls under “Freedom of Speech and Expression”, and hence can’t be taken action upon. As Union Township Public Information Officer Natalie Pineiro said, there’s not much they can do.
Now let’s see what would have happened in the similar circumstances in India. We already know how vulnerable social and political activists are in our country. We already know how much our basic rights have diluted in the governance of the present government. And we already know how highly our authorities think about our Freedom of Speech and Expression.
Dilution of RTI is already a well set example, though unrelated to your question.
So, to answer your question, I would say that we just can’t have such a billboard which criticizes our leaders publicly, no matter how much we make fun of them on internet and in memes.
Calling a leader in power “an idiot” has its own risks in our country, which ranges from being anti-nationalist to what not. The imagination and the power of the right wing know no bounds even in the biggest democracy of the world.
