First Indian movie submitted for Oscar was Mother India released in the year 1957. This Mehboob Khan-directed classic was nominated for the Best Film in A Foreign Language category, and almost won it. It only lost to Nights Of Cabiria by one vote.

The movie is still remembered and watched because of the incredible performances by the movie cast. Nargi’s stunning portrayal of Radha steals the show, followed by mind-blowing performance by Sunil Dutt. When you saw the movie you can feel the emotions of the characters – joy, pain, strife, anger, fun, and the plethora of expressions.

This movie will surely touch your heart!
