The Wednesday’s match against Pakistan was memorable in more than one way. Although India won the Group A match in Asian Cup 2018 against Pakistan, it lost an important all-rounder, Hardik Pandya to a lower back injury.
It was in 18th over that Hardik Pandya felt his back and was taken off the pitch on a stretcher. Pandya ended with figures of 4.5-0-24-0 after Babar Azam's catch was dropped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni when the batsman was on 32.
According to the reports, it’s Deepak Chahar who has joined the team on Thursday for rest of the tournament. Now in rest of the Asian Cup 2018, Deepak Chahar will play as substitute of Hardik Pandya.
Chahar got some acknowledgement during this years’ IPL, while playing for Chennai Super Kings under the captainship of MS Dhoni. Beside IPL, he has just played one T20 for India. So Asian Cup now is a great opportunity for Deepak Chahar to prove his mettle, and he seems ready for it.
Apart from Pandya being replaced by Chahar, there are two more replacements in the Indian Cricket team. One is that of Axar Patel by Ravindra Jadeja and of Shardul Thakur by Siddharth Kaul.
Axar Patel got his left index finger injured in the match against Pakistan and Shradul Thakur is suffering from right hip and groin soreness since the match against Hong Kong.
