Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish novelist, poet, and historian, who is considered one of the most significant literary figures of the 19th century. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and became a prominent writer in the Romantic movement.
Scott is best known for his historical novels, which were very popular during his lifetime and continue to be widely read today. Some of his most famous works include "Waverley" (1814), "Rob Roy" (1817), "Ivanhoe" (1820), and "The Lady of the Lake" (1810), which was a long narrative poem that became a bestseller and helped popularize the tourist industry in the Scottish Highlands.
