A large credit for the idea that wrestling is fake goes to WWE that is synonymous with wrestling today. When you talk about two men/women grappling on the ground, you automatically think about WWE, which is usually scripted. Other wrestling organizations like ROH, NJPW, and Impact follow the same suite with highly scripted (and choreographed) matches and promos. This leads many people considering that wrestling is fake.
However, there are plenty of contentions to this claim. One, yes, the matches in WWE are scripted; but they aren’t “fake”. The wrestlers do grapple. And so many of them do get injured. If wrestling is fake really, Stone Cold would never have his knee broken, Owen Hart wouldn’t have died, and the infamous incident wouldn’t have happened with Chris Benoit. These matches are scripted—not fake.

Second, wrestling isn’t just about WWE, ROH, and other private organizations, as is generally precepted. It itself is a big sport that’s integral to Olympics. And it would be quite absurd to call an event at the Olympics as fake and non-competitive.
Third, for whatever reason, as of late, the mainstream hasstarted marking differences between MMA and Wrestling. The usual claims of MMA fans, which is supposedly a brutal fight in a cage, that wrestling is fake has hurt the general perception of this sports. In comparison of UFC and WWE, they have stirred a narration that wrestling is fake and mixed martial art is real. And this has gone on for very long without any dispute from the wrestling world.

Wrestling isn’t fake. Wrestling isn’t just about WWE. It’s a very old-form of sport that’s as real as Football and Soccer. If you really want to know how real it is, watch Olympic calibermatches. Watch this NCCA match and you would know if wrestling is fake-

See first we need to understand difference between fake and scripted.
FAKE : It is applicable when is trying to tell you that he/she is doing something and they are actually doing opposite.
SCRIPTED : It is the thing which is having a pre decided conclusion and proceedings.
Now, Let us talk about WWE or professional wrestling now give me one instance when they claimed that what they are showing is real. They never said that, over that they always say to be away from doing these moves at home due to these ‘STUNTS’ being practiced by wrestlers for hours.
So, one can not say that WWE is fake we can say it to be scripted..which they always say.
