When it comes to India and so-called religious sentiments that Indian harbor, trust me anything can offend people here, cats, dogs, cows, names……
Something similar happened with the movie Loveratri. Salman Khan, along with Ayush Sharma, Warina Hussain, Director Abhiraj Meenawala, Ram Kapoor, and Ronit Roy, are facing a trial in Bihar court owing to this film.
From now on, think twice before using the famous phrase, “what’s in a name”, because there’s a lot of potential in names. They can even get you behind the bars, or be the reason of a court case against you –that’s what happened with Loveratri.
According to advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha, the name of the movie Loveratri, makes fun of a very important Hindu occasion –Navratri. Can you just believe it? According to Sudhir Ojha, the movie makes the “sacred” occasion “impure” by titling a movie thus. Accusations were also made on the grounds of vulgarity in the movie.
Anyway, where there is Salman Khan, there is controversy, and it’s not the first time it’s happening in Bollywood. We have the examples of Billu (earlier Billu Barber) and Padmavat (earlier Padmavati) before us.
Art (specially movies) keep offending and creating controversies in a country whose citizens are always high on their religious sentiments and cultural standards.
How much vulgarity there actually is, that you can infer from the trailer itself:
