Sadhvi Pragya has been given election ticket by the BJP for the general elections 2019 to fight from the BHopal constituency seat in Madhya Pradesh. She has been the primary accused in the MUmbai blast case. There are other case as well pending against her. But the major case in which trail is still on is her involvement into Malegaon blast killing hundreds of people.
Nobody knows what ideology BJP is holding or what it wants to prove by giving tickets to such candidates. Though this is not for the first time. Even the UP chief minister Yogi adityanath had several cases being filed against him still BJP chose him as a face for CM in UP. More than one third of the party's MP and MLA had been accused of various criminal charges against them and BJP has given tickets too all of them as stated by the Election Commission. Now you yourself think how could development be there when the people running the biggest democracy are the biggest gundas who know nothing of development.
Now answering your question Sadhvi Pragya has not been banned by The Election Commision from contesting elections. The statement is thus wrong. Because EC cannot do much in such cases, all EC can do is to declare the criminal charges being levied on the candidate in its part of the record. Rest people need to think, whether she deserves your vote or not.
In the eyes of law, a person till not proven is not guilty and hence stands innocent. This is right but somewhere this principle of law is taken as a loophole. If Sadhvi wins from this seat, all the accusations will be removed as nobody talks about such issues more. We have seen plethora of such cases in the past, where candidates having been accused of criminal charges joined BJP to escape from those cases.
However, recently a father of the boy who died in the Malegaon attack filed a plea in the Supreme Court to not allow Pragya contest election. The decision on the same is still pending. Bjp has given her the ticket against the former CM Digvijay singh from the BHopal seat. So let's see what happens.
