After a contentious NATO summit, President Donald Trump has clarified that it will not leave NATO and has had a satisfying talk with the other members, who have agreed to up their commitments. The President also went on to say that he could make USA quit the organization if he wanted, even without the ratification of the US Congress.
NATO members have long assured that they are going to increase spending on the defence organization in the future. However, the US President has shown his anguish over the US trade deficit, and how the country has still been carrying the weights of other members.
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel has stated that being the second largest contributor to the organization, it will fully maintain its commitment but always stay independent in its policies. Trump furiously argued that that is not the case and that Germany along with other member nations owes a lot to NATO and better pull its socks before decisions go haywire. What happens in the future waits to be seen, however, as of now, USA has no plans to quit NATO as confirmed by her President.
