Whenever my mind gets too noisy, I focus on simple grounding techniques. One thing that works instantly for me is deep breathing: a slow inhale and a slow exhale for a few minutes. It sounds basic, but it actually helps. I also try to shift my attention to something physical, like organizing my desk or stepping outside. Earlier, I used to scroll on my phone, which made it worse. Now I avoid that. Overthinking usually needs a break, not more input. Even a short pause helps reset your thoughts. It’s not about eliminating thoughts, just slowing them down enough to feel in control again.
How can I stop overthinking and calm my mind quickly?

Honestly, I don’t try to fight my thoughts anymore. The faster I try to “stop thinking,” the worse it gets. So first, I just pause and take a few slow breaths—it helps more than I expected.
One thing that works for me is bringing my focus back to something simple, like what I’m doing right now or even just noticing my surroundings. It pulls me out of my head.
I also remind myself that not every thought needs a reaction. Like Marcus Aurelius said, we have control over our mind, not everything else.
And from Eckhart Tolle, staying in the present really reduces anxiety.
It’s not instant, but it calms things down pretty quickly.
