Gender refers to men, women, boys and girls. They are socially constructed. Being a men, women, boys and girls are in relationship with each other. Gender is the range of characteristics and differentiating between femininity and masculinity. Gender assumed on the basis of appearance, anatomy, social norms and stereotypes. Gender is an important consideration in the field of development. It is the way of looking at how social norms and power impact on the lives on the opportunities.

Gender is the word that is used to define a socially constructed norm. In our society we are differentiated on the basis of Gender like men , women etc. People are not born as girls or boys or men or women, it is society that define us and make us grow according to gender differentiation. The roles of the individuals are decided on the basis of these socially constructed norms
