The human heart is used in all stages of life and the reason for that is simple. It helps keep our blood circulating through our body so oxygen can get to all parts of the body, it keeps our blood pressure regulated, it helps control and regulate muscles in the body, as well as many other functions that are needed to keep us alive. It is also vital for pumping blood around our bodies to provide nutrients and oxygen throughout the whole vessel. The heart starts with a focus on circulating blood which then goes on to other functions such as preventing strokes, regulating heartbeat irregularities, and helping out with cardio function. The heart's main function is pumping blood around a person so they do not go into distress or shock from low amounts of circulation.
