The Election Commission of India has taken a strict action after receiving a complaint against Yogi Adityanath and Mayawati. Both of them have been accused of delivering provocative and offensive speeches in public. They have also been accused of campaigning for elections making religion their agenda.

The EC has ordered Mayawati to not indulge in any campaigning activity for 48 hours and Yogi Adityanath has been warned against doing the same for 72 hours. The ordered has been passed after the instructions of the Supreme Court itself and will be in effect post 16th April 2019. In this duration, these two politicians cannot address any public gathering, give any interview, or tweet anything on their official accounts.

Mayawati will stay away from the campaigning activities on 16th and 17th of April while Yogi will not be active on 18th April as well.

One should note that the Supreme Court has taken Yogi’s Ali and Bajrangbali statement quite seriously. And Mayawati infuriated the court by talking of Muslim vote division.

Around 12-15 public meetings of both the candidates are expected to be dismissed because of this order.
