We,as Indians have a lot of cultural background which lays down some behavioural traits and some mindsets that have always been followed.A consequence of this is that we can’t really outgrow out of some of the perceptions and mindset we have been conditioned with and the values that we have been taught to be carried along with us.This is the major reason why we cannot speak up for ourselves and stand up against our parents because we have always been taught that it is disrespectful to do so.It’s almost like telling us not to listen to ourselves, not to be selfish if our parents do not approve of something. But we still feel repelled by the whole idea of it so, it’s hard to go against them due to the love and respect we have for them.

Parents or any elder are the people with experience. They have more experience than their kids. Thus many kids believe that arguing with their parents is cool which apparently is the worst thing anyone could do. Taking a stand for yourself is not a bad thing but the way your present your side of the story is what shows that are you talking relevant thing or not. The way to look at a scenario is what tells us about our thinking and theirs too.

Parents are the one who have been with us since the very first day of our life and who'll stay with us forever. Even though we have the right to choose our ways and lifestyle, we'll always consider our parents first and if there is a point of disagreement, its always hard to go against them.

It is because we have our roots connected with them which makes us believe that whatever they do or say is for our benefits. It is true in most of the cases but exceptions are always there. The emotional and metal connection with our parents is the reason why it is hard to go against them and take a stand for ourselves.

See, situations like these where we have to stand against our parents and make a decision, is a tough call. From the beginning, the time when we walk with the help of our parents we are told always listen to them. From very tender age we are filled with rules like, parents are always right and we should not question their decisions. Cause they are for our own good and best fortune.

We listen to our elders because they are older than us; hence have experience of lot more than us. They have been in the same place or situations. So they don’t want us to repeat their mistake or fail where they failed. Often it’s very hard to go against our parents and even when we do something like that, we always have a guilt and submission of our fault. It can be due to emotional or psychological barrier of why we cannot go against our parents will. Or maybe it is seen as a disgraceful and disrespectful moment even if you feel that you our right. But due to domestic anxiety that the aftermath of disapproval might be unpleasant, this leads to some hard decisions in the life of teenager.
