Here’s a basic picture. In 2013, S Sreesanth was accused of spot fixing in IPL that stirred a lot of controversy and legal battles for him. (He was a part of Rajasthan Royals). Following, BCCI banned him from playing for Indian National team, as well as in IPL, as a part of its disciplinary action.
In July 2015, a Patiala house court let him off of all the accusations, along with other accused. However, BCCI was adamant in its decision. So they filed a petition in the Kerala High Court, which restored the life-ban of Sreesanth.
To counter that decision, Sreesanth filed a petition in Supreme Court. The hearing is on-going. And the last we heard was that a bench of Supreme Court is waiting for the BCCI side to respond to the petition filed by the 34-years-old pacer.
It’s really safe of say that Sreesanth’s career is nearly over. These cases can go on for years. Plus, with all the evidences available against him, he wouldn’t hear any good news. And if he does, he would be too old to play for the national team.
On the other side, Sreesanth has claimed that he would play for some other country if he can’t play for India. This, again, is not possible. I mean, to play for other country he would have to accept a different nationality. This has its own complications and can take a lot of time. Besides, with all the accusations he’s carrying on his back, no other team would really be willing to have him. Also, not to forget, BCCI has said that Sreesanth cannot play for any other country on the basis of the technical end of their ban.
