In terms of player retention, Virat Kohli was the most expensive in this year’s bidding (and the entire IPL history). RCB paid a whopping Rs 17 crore to have him in its team even this year.
Next was MS Dhoni, who will be leading the returning Chennai Super Kings in this edition of Cricket extravaganza. CSK paid Rs 15 crore to retain ‘Captain Cool’.
Just like Mahi, Rohit Sharma, too, was retained by MI at Rs 15 crore. Following them were Steve Smith, David Warner, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya and AB De Villiers—they all were retained by their respective teams at sky-high price.
However, the show isn’t over yet. There are many more players and bidding to come. Virendra Sehwag, coach of KXIP, thinks Ben Stokes can go for a higher price.
Other players who can get the highest bidding – even more than that of Kohli’s – include Dwayne Bravo, Chris Lynn, Rashid Khan, Colin Munro, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Stark.
